1940 – Spring in La Plata

MR. AND MRS. LESTER DENT RETURN TO LA PLATA – The Dents are back in La Plata after spending several months in New York.  Evelyn Coulson, Dent’s secretary, elected to remain in New York to work for American Airlines.  The Dents drove from New York via Pennsylvania and encountered cold weather and deep snow.  Dent says the folks back east are against a war.  The Dents plan to stay in La Plata most of the summer.  Source: La Plata Home Press, Thursday, April 18, 1940; Macon Chronicle Herald, Saturday, April 20, 1940

LESTER DENT SPEAKS BEFORE MACON PEOPLE – Lester Dent was present at the Macon Rotary Club meeting at the Jefferson Hotel.  He provided entertainment to the group with his movie pictures of Europe.  Dent’s narrative o the film was said to be very interesting.  Source: La Plata Home Press, Thursday, June 27, 1940
