1929 – The Man Who Inspired Lester Dent

During his tenure as a telegraph operator at the Tulsa World, Lester Dent learned that one of his coworkers was writing a story. Dent found that to be tremendously funny but the laughter stopped when Dent was shown a large check from a publisher. The story is that Dent stopped laughing, grabbed a typewriter, and started writing. The rest is history.

For over ninety years, all that was known about this mystery man was the name L. A. Foster and that he worked with Dent at the Tulsa World.
